Liverpool - a place well worth a visit   by Alex Simon

Liverpool is a place that combines in harmony a rich past with a bright future. Its ample history makes it a perfect destination for anybody looking to explore England's vast cultural heritage. Also, it is an active city, where those looking to get around can find plenty of pubs and inns, and many festivals and exhibitions at any time of the year.

Being the home of The Beatles, Liverpool has many places that commemorate the story of the most successful band of all time. The Beatles Story is the only museum in the world that focuses entirely on The Beatles, and their band members. For the more avid fans, there is also the Magical Mystery Tour, a guided tour that will take you to the most important places associated with the band. At the end of the day one can drink and relax in the many Beatles-themed pubs like the Rubber Soul, The Cavern Club and Abbey Road.

The Waterfront Region in Liverpool was awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO, recognizing the city for its outstanding values and role in the development of world trade. The city architecture is splendid and visitors have a wide range of places to visit. Amongst the most notable buildings we can mention St. George's Hall, Walker Art Gallery, Royal Liver Building, Albert Dock, Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool (a modern art gallery).

Unlike many places with similar cultural heritage, Liverpool is a very active and vibrant city. For football lovers, Liverpool has two Premier League teams, FC Liverpool and FC Everton. Liverpool has a very active nightlife; there are places for every taste. For metal, rock and indie lovers, we recommend The Krazy House situated on the Wood Street.

For those looking for alternative music, Le Bateau, situated on Duke Street is a very pleasant place to visit. The Caledonian is a place to visit for those looking for underground music. Flanagan's Apple on Matthew Street, is one of the best Irish pubs outside of Ireland, with live performances, and good whiskey.
