5 Great Destinations For A Unique Honeymoon

When a couple makes the decision to spend their lives together, planning a beautiful wedding is important. However, the next stage is a honeymoon. This is equally important to the loving couple as they begin the lives together. The world offers many possibilities for a romantic honeymoon in tropical and lovely surroundings, but some destinations go right to the top of the list. Let’s briefly have a look at five remarkable destinations for an unforgettable honeymoon.

Honeymoon in paradise

1. Nihi Sumba, Sumba Island, Indonesia

Nihi Sumba is a remarkable destination on Sumba Island, just a short flight from Bali in Indonesia. This small, exclusive island hideaway is set in a tropical forest and is surrounded by grasslands and rice terraces. The resort has 1.6 miles of beautiful beachfront, perfect for sunbathing, surfing, diving and fishing.

Nihi Sumba consists of 12 estates, filled with thatched-roof bungalows and villas perfect for a honeymoon stay and hand-built by Indonesian craftsmen. Each property has spectacular balcony views over the beach and the sea and a private swimming pool. For those who wish to socialise, the resort has a swimming pool, dining room and cliff-top bar and down on the beach is the jungle spa, set in a grove of Pandanus trees. Guests can also enjoy horseback riding and yoga.

2. Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

When most people think about Las Vegas, they think of the Strip, lined with its many and varied casino hotels, just waiting for you to play. When not standing, holding your breath at a high-stake table, or crossing your fingers over the slot machines, there is more to this desert city than first meets the eye.

Explore the fantastic architecture of Las Vegas, having a mini-visit to the Eiffel Tower, or a gondola ride at the Venetian Hotel. Take honeymoon selfies in front of the incredible water fountains at the iconic Bellagio Hotel. Take in one of the famed theatrical, music or magic shows that are part of the entertainment here. For a honeymoon couple with a love for adventure, try the adrenalin-pumping rides at the top of the Stratosphere. An exciting honeymoon in Las Vegas has all this and more.

3. Chalkley Treehouse, Sabi Sand, South Africa

For any couple who really want to get away from it all in the heart of Africa, Chalkley Treehouse in Sabi Sand, South Africa is a must. This is a bush bedroom set in a centuries-old Leadwood Tree in the middle of almost nowhere. The treehouse is set on a secure platform – stark, but at the same time 5-star luxurious with a wonderfully comfortable four-poster bed.

Guests are taken to Chalkley Treehouse at sunset, where they will find drinks and a delicious picnic dinner. Then it’s off to bed for a night under the stars with the sounds of zebras and lions in the background.

4. Royal Davui Island Resort, Fiji

Fiji is a magical country with happy, friendly and humble people, welcoming you to their home for a tropical honeymoon. Royal Davui is a luxurious resort, set on a private island. The resort has only 16 villas, all facing the sea with gorgeous views and plenty of privacy. Each has its own private plunge pool.

All-inclusive dining is available, with menus changing each day, offering the chance for in-room dining, lunch under an ancient banyan tree or an intimate dinner for two. Cuisine consists of the finest local ingredients used to create a fusion of Pacific Rim cuisine. There are two ways to reach the resort – either travel by boat or on a chartered helicopter flight.

5. Giraffe Manor, Nairobi, Kenya

Giraffe Manor is a beautiful estate in Nairobi, Kenya and what makes it different is the Rothschild’s giraffes, popping their heads through the window while you enjoy breakfast! The exclusive boutique hotel is often dubbed one of the most Instagrammable properties in the world. Set in 12 acres of private land, surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest, Giraffe Manor is also one of the most iconic buildings in Nairobi.

The interior feels like walking into a scene the popular film “Out of Africa,” with its lush green gardens, terraces and courtyards and an elegant interior. In fact, one of the twelve luxurious guest rooms in the hotel is named for the author, Karen Blixen. Of course, the major draw is the giraffes that come for a visit in the mornings and evenings, hoping for a treat before heading back into their forest sanctuary.
