Guidebooks usually say that
this place is Spain's Saint Tropez. Undoubtedly, this old settlement is
one of the sandy, pebbly Costa Brava's - Wild Beach's - pearl. It was also
christened the "Blue Paradise" by painter Marc Chagall. The small town,
situated about 60 miles from Barcelona, was a fishermen's settlement long
time ago. It has turned to a popular holiday center and has become the
focus of tourist attention. I visited it at once, and I'll always wish
to get back to the mediterranean dreamland, year by year.
 
Known to have one of the most
scenic landscapes on the "Costa Brava", Tossa has a natural heritage of
unbelievable beauty, with unique environment and landscape and a coastline
with many beaches and small bays. There are two beaches here, Mar Grand
and La Bauma, both with its wonderful surroundings and clear water. In
the summer it is so crowded that without a previous reservation, it is
not easy to stay here. Tourists flow from all over the world to taste the
beauty and untouched character. There are several quality hotels and restaurants
to sample here and the nightlife is also quite good here.
The 12th century Old Town
still has some kind of intimate medieval ambience and the remains of its
Roman Fortress curl protectively round the little old houses which snuggle
in its shelter. The modern part of the town offers all the shops, cafés,
evening entertainment and other places that can be found in a Mediterranean
resort and we can visit them after the siesta. Beaches are excellent for
sunbathing and swimming. Tossa de Mar is a very good point which to visit
a wide range of interesting places including Montserrat Monastery, the
historic town of Girona, the excellent Waterworld theme park and the Olympic
city of Barcelona. Tossa, as the residents call this small paradise, will
be an unforgettable experience for everyone.
