The construction of Shipping
Canal in around 1350 provided Holland greater access to the various parts
of Europe. This made Rotterdam a local trans-shipment center between Holland,
England and Germany.
After Second World War, the
Holland made tremendous growth in the field of navigation and ship building.
Rotterdam has always been one of the major centers of ship building for
Holland. They become pioneers in reclaiming of land from sea i.e. making
dams, powerhouses and anti flood systems on the sea. Daring and new styles
of apartments, office buildings and recreation facilities resulted in a
more livable city center with a new skyline. The development of Dutch as
