| The
house stands clear of the garden on a raised stone-built platform of just
under a metre. This apron provides a walkway around the house linking
the front and rear sitting areas under the pagoda and drops at the front
of the house to embrace the 7 metre x 4 metre swimming pool. The
house and gardens are full of shrubs and flowers as well as olive trees
and are not overlooked.
The
front door leads into a huge sitting room and immediately to the left are
huge glass doors that slide to provide access to the indoor swimming pool/Jacuzzi.
The
sitting room features a stone fireplace, complete with a supply of logs;
a fixed and a moveable sofa that both provide extra sleeping accommodation
if required, plus numerous items of occasional furniture confirming this
as an all-year-round permanent home.
A satellite
television completes this impression.
Moving
round under a massive stone archway one enters the dining area and the
kitchen. There are double glass doors from the dining area that take us
out onto the apron again under the front pagoda.
The
rear door alongside the kitchen takes us out to the back sitting area close
to olive trees, bamboo and natural countryside.
At
the far end of the sitting room there is a toilet and washbasin discreetly
tucked under the stairs.
Access
to the upper floor is by a polished wooden staircase at the end of the
sitting room. These stairs take us onto the central landing from which
there are doors to the three bedrooms and the main bathroom.
The
master bedroom has a shower-room en-suite, a balcony to the side, and front
and rear windows giving views of mountains, olive groves and of course
the sea. The second bedroom has a sea-facing balcony and the third bedroom
can also view the sea across the olives to the side of the house. This
bedroom has a particularly attractive pitched version of the beam and board
ceilings that are a feature of the rest of the house. |
