Location
Defined
by its rugged shorelines, coastal vegetation, heritage fishing villages
and unpretentious lifestyle, the West Coast still holds an element of the
wild unknown. With a tangibly strong culture of fisher-folk who have been
the guardians of the land that supports them, their quaint small wooden
fishing boats and simple lives on the sea, are qualities that draw visitors
from across the globe. Loved by many, the dramatic coastline, changeable
seas, white sandy beaches and cerulean blue skies creep under your skin
and seep into your soul. Perhaps the most beautiful of all the quaint
villages is Langebaan, with its natural wonders, blue lagoon and azure
skies.

Place
This
is a lovely 3 bedroom house within walking distance from The Farmhouse
Hotel, ideal for a long holiday or weekend break away and is situated in
a private residential complex with breathtaking views of the Langebaan
lagoon.
The
West Coast is blessed with stark natural beauty that takes a hold of
your soul and never seems to let go. Places such as Kraalbaai and Churchhaven,
safely conserved in the West Coast National Park, are well worth visiting.
Have the Farmhouse Restaurant pack you a picnic or have lunch at Geelbek
Restaurant for an authentic experience. Spend the day in the quaint fishing
village of Paternoster, famed for its inexpensive crayfish and picturesque
wooden fishing boats scattered along the shoreline. These are places that
seem to have been forgotten by time and yet preserved by it too.
Watersports
are a major attraction in Langebaan, and if you don’t have your own boat,
yacht, jetski, kayak, wind or kite surfing equipment, they are all available
for hire in central Langebaan.
West
Coast National Park is a haven for lovers of ecology and nature and
is a Ramsar site with a myriad of flora and fauna. The park is home to
over 350 bird species and spans a great distance between Langebaan and
Yzerfontein along the lagoon. Day visitors are welcome to drive, hike and
cycle along the roads and paths to enjoy viewing birds in their natural
habitat and watch the spring flower spectacle.
West
Coast Fossil Park is an area where miners discovered preserved fossils
that are millions of years old. Together with Iziko Museum in Cape Town,
a 14ha fossil-rich area within the mine property was declared a national
Monument and the fossil park now brings the fascinating science of paleontology
to the public
Club
Mykonos Casino & Resort is a Greekstyled village built on the waters
edge and there are enough facilities to keep you busy for a while. They
include 262 slot machines, Pontoon, five restaurants, five bars, boat cruises,
yachting and watersports.

Vanguard
Drive becomes the N7. Continue straight.

After
8km, at the intersection (traffic lights), turn right onto R27 North, direction
Velddrif.

for the West Coast National Park.
Continue
for a further 15 minutes until you see the West Coast 1-Stop (Engen Petrol

Alternative
scenic route to The Farmhouse Hotel
For
those with an adventurous spirit we can advise a scenic route to The Farmhouse
Hotel. This route will take you through the culturally rich town
of Darling, to the hidden gems in the West Coast National Park.
Pass
through Milnerton and take the Blouberg turn off. Follow the road
to Melkbos. Exit Melkbos to go to the R27 and carry on. Then take
the Atlantis turn off and carry on through to Mamre. In the flower season
you will be treated to beautiful displays of flowers in these farming areas.
You
will then arrive in Darling, the home to our most treasured comedic icon,
Pieter Dirk Uys, who impersonates a fictitious female character, Evita
Bezuidenhoudt, in his very own theatre. Darling attracts artists,
poets, actors, restauranteurs, designers and many more eccentric characters.
We advise having lunch here and then move onto the R27 road on the coast
towards Langebaan, a distance of 15km’s.
After
10km’s, take the West Coast National Park turn off and delight in the natural
scenery. Stop off at the historical Geelbek restaurant, and enjoy
tea at the restaurant.
From
Geelbek, drive towards Langebaan and The Farmhouse Hotel is located soon
after the “Langebaan Gate.”
