Sea Island Vacation Rental
Boayan Island
Philippines
| We
live away from the smog, the crowds and the tension of cities and towns.
We have tried to create a place that is both environment and people friendly;
a way of life semi-independent from the rest of the world -- we grow our
own vegetables, bake our bread and pastries, eggs are collected daily from
our poultry, we make sure the fish is fresh by catching it ourselves, electricity
is generated from the sun, and fresh water is pumped from our well. We
communicate with the outside world through radio and satellite telephone. |
"Trying
to step lightly on the earth"
|
|
We
live with the animals in their natural element: the birds - kingfishers,
eagles, hawks, hornbills, orioles, parrots, the scrub fowl who bury their
eggs in the sand...; the reptiles - geckos, giant monitor lizards and frogs
and the monkeys who visit the vegetable gardens from time to time; enough
butterflies to please Nabokov and the gamut of insects who announce the
dawn and the dusk. It is for them that we have tried to preserve the eleven
hectares that surround the house. We are proud to say that we have been
able to save some patches of virgin forest.
In
preserving the land we preserve the sea as well for we also live with the
inhabitants of the sea: the sea turtles who come to lay their eggs on shore;
the rays that glide through the water; the giant groupers and moray eels
who live amongst the coral; the parrot fish, the clown fish, the angel
fish, the butterfly, etc... and the jack, the barracuda, the king mackerel,
the red snapper which tastes like lobster... |

| We
invite you to share this environment with us and to help in the continued
preservation of this fragile ecosystem.
The
house is a 250 square meter wooden bungalow built on stilts, with two bedrooms,
each with a queen sized bed and one toilet and shower room adjoining the
two rooms. The spacious kitchen is a separate structure connected by a
covered walkway which forms part of the immense terrace and sun deck built
around the entire house.
Surrounded
by greenery and situated on a cove of fine white sand, the house looks
out onto a well protected bay, a seeming lagoon filled with aquarium fish
and other interesting marine life. From this vantage point you can witness
the tropical sunsets, while the back terrace overlooks a rocky shoreline
facing the sunrise.
Being
far from any power plant or industry, electricity in the house is provided
by the sun through solar panels which charge batteries. With this, the
house lights, computer, radio, telephone, stereo and electric fans are
all run. In case of a series of at least three cloudy days (it happens
sometimes) there are two generators on standby, located far from the house. |
|
| For
quick trips, there is a 6m speedboat powered by two 45hp engines, to go
to nearby snorkeling spots or to a picnic on another sandy shore. For those
more traditional in taste there is the "banca" at your service.
N.B.
The house is closed from July to mid-December due to the rainy season and
unpredictable weather conditions.
