| Hesse
(German: Hessen) is a state of Germany with an area of 21,110 km²
and just over six million inhabitants. The state capital is Wiesbaden.
Hesse's largest city is nearby Frankfurt am Main. Hesse contributes the
largest share to the Rhine Main Area.
Situated in western-central
Germany, Hesse borders on the German states (starting from the north-west
and proceeding clockwise) of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Thuringia,
Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
The principal cities of Hesse
include Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden,
Darmstadt,
Offenbach, Hanau, Gießen, Wetzlar and Limburg in the greater Rhine
Main Area, Fulda in the east, and Kassel and Marburg an der Lahn in the
north.
The most important rivers
in Hesse are the Fulda and Eder rivers in the north, the Lahn in the central
part of Hesse, and the Main and Rhine in the south. The countryside is
hilly and there are numerous mountain ranges, like the Rhön, the Westerwald,
the Taunus, the Vogelsberg, the Knüll or the Spessart.
Most of the population of
Hesse is in the southern part of Hesse in the Rhine Main Area. The Rhine
borders Hesse on the southwest without running through the state, only
one old arm -- the so-called Alt-Rhein -- runs through Hesse. The mountain
range between the Main and the Neckar river is called the Odenwald. The
plain in between the rivers Main, Rhine and Neckar, and the Odenwald mountains
is called the Ried. |

In the 40 km. north-east
of Winterberg situated Ober-Waroldern lies this wonderful half timbered
farm house from 1878. The Dutch owner has been busy since 2006 with transforming
this authentic piece of Germany into a marvelous group destination in where
eight bedrooms offer accommodation to 30 persons. The house has been renovated
in a tasteful way and arranged into three holiday properties which provides
for a very flexible destination. You can rent the entire house, which you
will occupy all by yourself, for a maximum of 30 pers., but of course also
(depending on your company) one ore more individual houses. There lies
a 15-pers. house on the ground floor with five bedrooms and two bathrooms
for the medium group while there are two 5-pers. homes situated on the
first floor for the individual family. Sleeps 30. |

A Romantic holiday for two,
in a characteristic wooden chalet, and enjoying, from the terrace, the
view on the Eder.? It is possible in this detached wooden chalet in the
friendly village Haldorf. The house of 36m2 lays on a 1300m2 large, completely
fenced piece of land and has a barbeque/fireplace and 2 terraces where
you can enjoy either sun or shade. When the weather is good you can
open the foldingdoors and have breakfast on the terrace facing south. But
even if the sun is not there you can enjoy the view from the dining table.
Recommended are, a visit to the local brewery, dining in the 2km far gasthous
zum Linden, Or exploring a part of the kilometerslong cycling paths at
500m. from the chalet. You can also go fishing in the Eder. Sleeps

of a good standards with colour T.V. (some with cable), a few of the properties
have a fireplace and some have a stove. The 8 persons houses (type II)

(approx. 50 m2) is located in the small town of Siptenfelde in the beautiful
Harz mountains. Siptenfelde is located centrally in the Harz at approx.
550 m altitude. This small idyllic village in the Harz is ideal for walking,
mountain biking or simply to enjoy the tranquillity and forget the daily
stress. All walking paths are also suitable for cycling. The most beautiful
attractions in the Harz are easily accessible by car. The "Brocken", the
highest mountain in the Harz (1142 m) is definitely worth a visit and can
be reached with the funicular. Of course, you can also climb the highest
mountain of the Harz on foot and this is possible via various routes. A
visit to the picturesque, historical cities Quedlinburg, Stolberg and Wernigerode

situated 47 km to the north west of Winterberg. Landhuis Schütz is
situated in the centre of Dehringhausen and contains three properties:
a 5 persons accommodation on the ground floor (DE-34513-09), a 4 persons
accommodation on the 1st floor (DE-34513-10) and a 2 persons accommodation
on the 2nd floor (DE-34513-11), with sloping ceilings. All the properties
have been clasically furnished. Owing to its hillside position, the properties
on the ground and 1st floor have a large balcony with garden furniture.
The bathrooms of these properties are located on the communal hallway,
just next to each property. Communal garden (approx. 600 m²) with
summer house and barbeque. Sleeps 4. |
