This private
villa is situated on three hectares (7 acres) of gently sloping hillside
overlooking a lush river valley slightly south of Bali's cultural and arts
center Ubud and adjacent to the "Linda Garland Estate". The villa is surrounded
by a carefully landscaped garden with lotus ponds, a riverside massage
hut and tropical fruit trees.
Villa "Pelangi" (House of Rainbows) was modeled after the seven chakras (energy centers of the human body) and the interior design reflects the colors of a prism from the first level up to the top. |
| There are two
large rose-and-burgundy colored guest rooms on the lower level nearest
the river. Each is appointed with antique furniture and writing desks,
ceiling fans and French doors opening onto private patios. The air-conditioned
"Raja Room" has an oversized canopy bed, the "Rani Room" has an over-sized
four-poster bed. Both share an indoor/outdoor bathroom. Bay windows in
the tub open onto frangipani trees and a lush lawn.
Up one flight of stairs is a spacious and airy veranda-like living room offering jungle views under a soaring roof. An expandable teak wood table can accommodate up to ten diners. There is also a cozy conversation area with floor pillows and a more formal sitting area with oriental rugs on hardwood floors and antique furnishings. |

Three steps
further up is the fully equipped galley-style kitchen, a dining area with
large marble table offering banquette-style seating and a waterfall view,
and a den with one day bed as well as a second bathroom.
A stairway leads from the "green" level to the "blue" level - the owner's office, design studio and showroom including a meeting area with a carved antique napping bed, all with river and terrace views. Three steps up is the violet-themed master suite with a huge antique Chinese opium bed, Javanese hand-carved walls, and French doors opening onto a private garden and expansive iron wood deck overlooking the waterfall. |
| The Roman-style
bath is half open to the sky, and a family-size tub perches high above
the manicured garden with the rushing river in view below.
A spiral staircase from the foyer leads to a sleeping loft with double bed and study with Chippendale desk. A ladder/stairway leads to the "white" level, the Meditation Tower and crown of the house. This open pavilion is reserved as a sanctuary solely for private use by the owner. |
