for its world-class surf breaks and legendary sunsets.
The villa is
a study in understated elegance, blending the very best of modern tropical
architecture with innovate finishes and superior amenities. It has been
lovingly furnished by its owners, and showcases some beautiful artwork
and artifacts from Thailand, Indonesia and Hawaii.

dressing rooms and open-air bathrooms. |
|
|
| Entrance
Villa Li is heralded
by a grand gateway with a pivot door, leading into a grassed courtyard
complete with ponds and a bubbling water fountain. The garden is planted
with frangipani, heliconia and bamboo, and features a stone-carved rendition
of the famous trio of wise monkeys who ‘see no evil, hear no evil and speak
no evil’. The two-storey villa is entered via a spacious open-air hallway. |

| Office, Dining
Room & Bar
The Office is
accessed from the entrance hall by latticed sliding doors that are reminiscent
of the shoji screens of traditional Japanese architecture. With a terrazzo
floor and hidden ceiling lights, this practical, air-conditioned room is
equipped with a big desk, a luxurious office chair, a lazy chair, a circular
table with four chairs, storage units and built-in shelving. It is light
and airy with glass on two sides. WiFi Internet access is available throughout
the villa. |
|
|
The elevated
dining area is open to the pool at the front and flanked at the back by
a bas-relief Buddha. This high-roofed space is cooled by ceiling fans and
lit by an impressive chandelier. It is furnished with a circular table
that seats nine, complete with a Lazy Susan, and rattan dining chairs with
hand-embroidered cushions.
The dining area
is complemented by a wide bar, showcasing a myriad of materials including
black marble, beaten copper and serai stone, enhanced by a mirror, concealed
lighting and hanging lanterns. |
| The air-conditioned
Living Room is accessed from the dining area via stepping stones over a
well-stocked koi pond, featuring fountain replicas of a pair terracotta
‘candi’ from the Majapahit era. The room has floor-to-ceiling glass doors
and a polished Merbau hardwood floor. It is furnished with large segmented
sofas and ottomans, a coffee table, fretwork wooden window panels and an
Persian rug. It is equipped with a 42” satellite TV positioned in an alcove
in the wall, together with a DVD/CD player and surround sound. |

Master Bedroom,
Guest Bedroom & Yoga Room
The air-conditioned
Master Bedroom is situated in a stand-alone building on ground level with
direct access into the swimming pool.
Measuring a generous
6 x 7 metres, the room is characterised by a polished teakwood floor, a
soaring roof, sliding glass doors, customised furnishings and sumptuous
fabrics. |
| The canopied
king-size bed is fitted with white curtains. There is a pair of built-in
night tables, and also a cushioned window seat within a bay window.
A door leads
into a large air-conditioned Dressing Room, fitted with a series of wardrobes
and furnished with a red velvet ottoman. At the far end of the room are
two wooden vanity units, each supporting a beaten-bronze washbasin. There
is also a dressing table, a wall mirror and a Palimanan stone mural. |
|
|
The Guest Bedroom,
located on the upper floor, presents an olive green theme, with a four-poster
king-size bed hung with soft green drapes. There is also a glass-topped
desk, chair, Persian rug, chaise longue, bedside tables and lamps, and
a 29” satellite TV and DVD/CD player.
The en-suite
Dressing Area is equipped with sparkling green terrazzo vanity units supporting
‘his & hers’ green glass washbowls, as well as fitted wardrobes and
a wall mirror. The adjacent Bathroom is open to the sky, with a walk-in
rain-shower underneath a wooden pergola, a pebbled floor with a terrazzo
pad, an oversized corner bathtub and a toilet hidden within an alcove. |
| The
adjoining Garden Bathroom is surrounded by high walls for privacy and planted
with cascading thunbergia and a fragrant frangipani tree. This open-air
space is dominated by a romantic bathtub under a pillared canopy, complemented
by carved window panels. Stepping stones lead to a sheltered, raindrop
shower; there is also a toilet and a bidé. An additional door provides
access from the Living Room.
A staircase winds,
from the hallway, up to a timber-floored mezzanine, which is open on two
sides with a mirrored wall and an exercise bar. A built-in bench seat overlooks
the garden. This space is ideal for yoga or exercise, and an exercise bicycle
is provided for guest use. To one side is a rock-carved washbasin. |
| A few short
steps up from the Yoga Room, guests will find a broad Balcony, affording
wonderful views of the garden and pool. Furnished with two daybeds it is
a lovely spot for relaxing. Music speakers are hidden in the high roof.
Garden &
Swimming Pool
A timber deck
borders the infinity-edge pool, which has entry steps in three different
places. An open-air seating area in front of the villa features a built-in
cushioned daybed, shaded from the sun and positioned poolside. |
|
|
On the opposite
side of the pool is a ‘bale bengong’ relaxation pavilion – an open-sided
gazebo, sheltered by a roof and surrounded by a fish pond with a sparkling
water cascade behind.
The Balinese
word ‘bengong’ means ‘lost in thought’, and ‘bale’ means an abode, so a
bale bengong is literally a ‘contemplation house’, designed for reflection,
dreaming and meditation. Double sunloungers are also provided for relaxation
purposes, and the smooth flat lawns are planted with frangipanis. |
| A
guest washroom with an ornate hand-basin is located beside the pool deck.
There is also a timber and glass sculpture that looks particularly beautiful
at night. There is a private and secure car parking area outside the front
entrance to the villa. |
